U.S. War on Drugs

The American Friends Service Committee has worked in Colombia since 1995 to oppose the suffering caused by armed actors and to support human rights and peacebuilding initiatives. The program sets out to dismantle the myth that the war in Colombia is a war on drugs or narco-terrorism. This is accomplished through public education, advocacy campaigns for change in U.S. policies towards Colombia, documenting and presenting cases of human rights abuses to Congressional members and the State Department, and bringing representatives from partner peace communities and organizations in Colombia to participate in U.S. speaking tours and lobby for changes to U.S. policy.
